Carboplatin with or without Pembrolizumab in Treating Patients with Advanced Breast Cancer with Locally Recurrent Chest Wall Disease That Cannot Be Removed by Surgery

Breast

This randomized phase II trial studies how well carboplatin with or without pembrolizumab work in treating patients with breast cancer that has spread to other places in the body with chest wall disease that has come back and cannot be removed by surgery. Monoclonal antibodies, such as carboplatin and pembrolizumab, may interfere with the ability of tumor cells to grow and spread.

Predicting Development of Diabetes Mellitus in Patients Undergoing Allogeneic Stem Cell Transplant

Hematologic

This clinical trial studies the physiology and immunology of new-onset post-transplant diabetes mellitus in patients undergoing allogeneic stem cell transplantation. Oral glucose tolerance testing (OGTT), euglycemic hyperinsulinemic clamps, and immune assays will be used to define the mechanisms associated with abnormal glucose homeostasis following stem cell transplantation. Information from this clinical trial could be used to develop standardized screening procedures or to develop optimal treatment strategies for patients developing post-transplant diabetes mellitus.

Long Term Follow-up for Early Detection of Lung Cancer in Current or Former Smokers

Lung

This research trial studies the long term follow-up for early detection of lung cancer in current or former smokers. Following up on smokers by collecting and analyzing specimens in the laboratory, performing chest computed tomography (CT) scans, as well as reviewing medical records may help doctors detect lung cancer at an earlier stage.

Yttrium Y 90 Resin Microspheres in Collecting Data from Patients with Liver Cancer That Cannot Be Removed by Surgery for the RESIN Liver Tumor Study

Liver

This research trial studies Yttrium Y 90 resin microspheres in collecting data from patients with liver cancer not capable of being removed by surgery (unresectable) for the radiation-emitting SIR-spheres in non-resectable (RESIN) liver tumor study. The information generated will help doctors better understand treatment patterns involving Y90 therapy, gain additional insights in the long-term outcomes for patients, as well as guide future research for using Y90 therapy, especially for those conditions where data is currently very limited or lacking.
