Profile

I have the expertise, leadership, training, and motivation necessary to successfully carry out the proposed research project. At this early stage in my career, I have already been very productive in advancing lung cancer biomarker development and understanding for early-stage lesions. My earlier studies focused on translating Backscattering Interferometry (BSI) from a powerful-yet-difficult technique into a user friendly, high throughput, highly sensitive, benchtop-ready platform technology. My work has then used this platform for biomarker quantification in the early detection of lung cancer and focused on integrating blood biomarkers with quantitative imaging features and clinical data for highly accurate noninvasive diagnosis of indeterminate pulmonary nodules. My work then branched into the understanding of the behavior of early-stage lung adenocarcinoma. This application builds upon my past work using radiomics and biomarkers to understand lung cancer behavior within the context of the Translational and Basic Sciences Research in Early Lesions framework to better assess lung cancer aggressiveness at early time points using radiomic and molecular methods.
