Profile
We use a combination of cell culture techniques, genetically engineered mouse models, and patient data, to study primarily pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH). Although many of our projects have focused on lung pathology, we have several lines of research which have focused on preserving right heart function, the actual cause of mortality in PAH patients. We have created mouse models of different heritable PAH mutations and have learned a great deal about the molecular etiology of PAH from them.
We have also been working in some outcomes research for cancer. Specifically, we have been looking at ways of preserving fertility in boys undergoing cancer treatment, using bovid hybrids as a model for stem cell therapy approaches.
