Profile

I have always believed that being an advocate for patients, families, and communities is the primary mission of a nurse. While this may include many different components, all require advocating for the best outcomes of community members and faith-based organizations (FBOs). Currently 40% of my workload is dedicated to a NIH funded project entitled Engaging Partners in Caring Communities (EPICC). This project is working with African American faith communities in Davidson County with the primary aim to increase faith based organization (FBO) capacity to implement health programs targeted at obesity, increased physical activity, and improved consumption of fruits and vegetables, all factors linked with cancer rates.
