Community Outreach and Engagement integrates with Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center's research programs and administrative initiatives to reduce the cancer burden within the catchment area and beyond. In a bi-directional manner, leveraging relationships with patients and community stakeholders, Community Outreach and Engagement obtains input from the community on priorities for research, cancer control and care and works with the center's research programs and community partners to bring those prioritized initiatives out to the community.

Some goals of a clinical trial are to identify a disease or disorder, control or manage a disease, prevent an illness, cure a disease or disorder, and determine the safety or effectiveness of new drugs or treatments.
